Brahmanandam Background:
Prior to movies, he was a Telugu lecturer in the town of Attili, a town in West Godavari district in the state of Andhra Pradesh. He began his film career with popular Telugu director and writer, Jandhyala’s Aha Naa Pellanta in which Rajendra Prasad played the lead role. Owing to his comic abilities, he is now one of the most respected comedians in the history of Tollywood. Nowadays he is an well versatile active comedian in Tamil movies as well, such as in Ghillli, Mozhi, and Sathyam.According to him, Jandhyala was the best comedy director he has ever worked with. He is presently writing a book based on his experiences in the film industry.
Brahmanandam Family:
He has two sons and the elder son Gautam has been introduced to the Telugu film industry through Pallakilo Pellikooturu. The film is directed by renowned choreographer and writer, Chandrabose’s wife Suchitra.Awards:
- Acharya Nagarjuna University awarded Brahmanandam an honorary doctorate award.
- He has been selected for 2005 year’s Allu Award instituted in the memory of Allu Rama Lingaiah. On October 1, 2005, the award was presented to him at a function in Hyderabad. The award consists of a Swarna Kankanam (Translation: Gold bracelet), a citation and a souvenir.
- He recently earned a spot in the Guinness World Records for acting in 754 Telugu films in 20 years.
- In January 2009, the Government of India bestowed the coveted title of Padmasri on Brahmanandam for his contributions to art.
